Sensors and their networks
We work with sensors, data and decision making
In the world around us, sensors are everywhere. They underpin Internet of Things, industrial control, automation, condition monitoring of assets, etc. and provide large scale data for predictive maintenance and big data analysis. As sensors miniaturise and costs reduce, it opens up a world of possibilities on where these can be placed and what they can monitor. The data can be used for real-time control, or used in off-line decision making systems, often with a cloud backend. Sensors can measure signals including thermal, tactile, vibration, acoustic, image, laser, radar, electric, magnetic, piezoelectric and so on, and these may deliver data individually or in a network of sensors. Sensors do not operate by themselves. Their selection, control circuit, battery source, enclosure design, data management and application context requires careful consideration in implementing sensors for any application. Our expertise includes but is not limited to:
- Sensor selection, configuration and optimisation to sample data for specific applications
- Sensor testing by designing test conditions and reporting on their capability when applied in the real-world
- Development of electrical and electronic circuits for controlling sensors, sampling data from them and storing such data with meta data including data sample time, location, etc.
- Sensor enclosure designing for rugged environments such as railways, marine, oil and gas, military, and others, taking into account high temperatures, humidity, vibration, and other extreme environmental features
- Sensor communication software development to include efficient data storage without loss
- Low energy consuming PCB design and development for sensors
- Sensor networks- design and implementation
- Cloud based backend for sensor networks and other sensor application
