Funding sources and applications
Academia and industry in partnership can develop some of the best new technologies. Seed funding for R&D is important to facilitate the appointment of staff, travels, purchase of materials, pay for overheads, and purchase equipment. The typical success rates for receiving governmental support is less than 5-10% globally where grant applications are extremely competitive. In order to be successful, grant applications need to show novelty, a clear plan of work, deliverables, risk management, exploitation plans, and team capability. We work with companies to form good consortiums and a clear project definition that has a high potential for gaining grant funding. We thereafter work with a number of professional grant writers and companies that can convert ideas into well-documented funding applications.

Our approach
We believe in collaborative research of international standards. The understanding of what exists already is very important to define what is novel, achievable and value for money. We can provide professional grant writing and grant management services to bring together consortia members who may be new to each other. We can plug in technology gaps by bringing in experts and external companies for collaboration. A successfully funded grant is great news but work does not stop at the end of it. Only a small proportion of successful prototypes make it to the market and we can assist with a strong exploitation strategy for product commercialisation. In most cases, consortium members themselves may offer a route into the market but not always. Our support is to take ideas to commercial products, apply for patents and generate publications on subject matter that is not commercially sensitive.
